What's this core thing?
Remember how you wanted to try pilates because you thought it was going to give you a strong core? And then you came to have your first session with me and I taught you about your "core" and we hadn't even started moving the reformer yet? And then you started working out and I kept telling you to "zip up and button up"?
Well let me remind you: Certain muscles play a crucial role in providing a stable and flexible core. These are the deep muscles of the pelvis and trunk. Think about the abdominals, the back muscles; and together with the diaphragm and pelvic floor this creates a cylinder of muscular support in the centre of the body "The Core" – also referred to by Joseph Pilates as the Powerhouse.
Now do your zipper up, tighten your tummy so you can do your button up and lets get moving
