Build Unbreakable Commitment

4 STEPS TO UNBREAKABLE COMMITMENT

Are you ready to go all out? Are you ready to start your fitness journey but don’t want it to just last the weeks of your latest “challenge”?

If so, here’s how.

1. GET YOUR MINDSET RIGHT

Success starts with your mindset. You must make the decision to hold nothing back - and sometimes that means getting real and raw with why we want to start a fitness journey. You must take a good look at your life and decide that nothing is going to stand in your way of success.

Finding real pain behind a goal is what can set you apart from other people - can you keep up with playing with your kids, do you have photos of when you were married and you look nothing like that anymore, does it hurt every time you move?

This kind of raw, unrestrained dedication is extremely powerful. Get real & raw with your goals and why ou want to achieve them.

2. REFINE YOUR GOALS

It’s hard to commit yourself to something if your finish line is too far off in the distance. So before you do anything, get clear about what the ultimate outcome looks like. Your goals will undoubtedly be different at different stages of you life as well, and that’s fine.

The key is to sculpt a vision that is so freaking clear and amazing and full of awesomeness that you are willing to do anything to achieve it.

3. FOCUS ON WHAT’S IMPORTANT

While the right mindset will give you the motivation, if you focus on unimportant activities you still aren’t going to get anywhere.

“Going for it” doesn’t mean working out 7 days a week for the next 2 weeks when you are used to do doing nothing or only 1 session. Eating healthy for 5 days and then bingeing on the 6th day is not going to help you reach your goals.

The goal is to live and reach your goals on your terms.

4. HOLD YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE

Unfortunately, personal drive usually isn’t enough. It may be enough to get you started, but after a week or two the “new years resolution effect” begins to set in and your initial enthusiasm slowly begins to fade.

In order to stay committed, you need a way of holding yourself accountable.

How? Here are my top three ways:

  • Use a Weekly Daily Goals system to keep track of your most important tasks. At the beginning of each week, write down your top goals for the next 7 days. Before you go to bed each night, write down 2-3 key tasks that, if accomplished, will leave you satisfied with your day. Once you complete your goals for the day, stop guilt free.

  • Tell others what you are doing. At the very least, tell your family about the goals you’re trying to reach. Even if their reactions are less than supportive, getting your ambitions out in the open will help you stay committed.

  • Join a community. Surrounding yourself with like-minded people who are rooting for (and expecting) your success can be extremely powerful. It can provide you with the confidence and motivation you need to take your business to a whole new level. And we have that community at IV Pilates - so please come play one day!!

AND THEN CELEBRATE - this is my sneaky 5th step. Small wins along the way deserve a little mini victory dance. Enjoy the journey.
